Player Ratings

Teams

Given – Man of the Match,  the only world class player on show. Outstanding saves throughout and saved the penalty. 10

Zabaleta From the sublime to the woeful. Some great interceptions and marauding runs but no end product and got caught out of position at times. 6

Kompany – A decent performance considering he is no where near match fit and also looks a bit muscle bound. Won't admit it but doesn't enjoy playing at centreback as much as midfield as he likes to play riskily at times. Needs games. 6

Lescott- Improving all the time, but decision making is still suspect. Good aerial ability and nearly added to his two goals this season. Never let the ball bounce Joleen! 7

Bridge – Another good show and he dealt with the danger man Larsson well. His marauding runs helped create space for team mates and  he never hides 7

De Jong (c) – Was handed the captain’s armband for the 2nd time and although not at his best never hid. He was unlucky for the penalty as both players rose for a 50/50 with their arms aloft. Should n’t have been subbed as Barry was having a shocker, but was on a yellow in a physical game. 6

Barry – His worst performance to date was against Villa until today. Passing, reactions and co-ordinatoin all off in front of a disappointed Fabio Capello. No surprise that De Jong has been given the armband in the absence of Toure, as Barry has bottled it both times he's been booed by fans this season. – 5

Wright-Phillips – A very energetic perforamce by Shaun who is another player who doesn't hide away when things are going against him. provided an outlet in attack and defended well but his delivery was a huge disappointment. 7

Tevez - A great first half with bits of excellent skill and 110 percent work-rate marred by spats of frustraion and pot shots. Some brilliant passes and one superb shot but no goal. 7

Bellamy - Lively, but nowhere near the level of skill or industry we've been accustomed to seeing this season. 6

Santa Cruz - Poor and like Kompany nowhere near match fit. He was useful in the defensive third when we were defending set pieces.6

Subs:

Ireland (for De Jong, 60 mins) - Took a while to get into the game before showing his passing repertoire. 6
Petrov (for Santa Cruz, 66 mins) - Tried to make things happen but wasn't allowed to run the channels by the Brum defence.  6

Unused Subs: Taylor, Richards, Sylvinho, Weiss, Johnson

EVERYONE'S MAN OF THE MATCH: Shay Given
